“ATTICS TO EDEN”no começo de 2009!!

Attics to Artwork..(warning :excessive rambling)
yo yo it's nathan .. how's things?! so over this lovely break between recording "Attics" and touring on it, we've been lucky enough to see 3 Smashing Pumpkins shows here in Chicago. Told you we were fans. Anyhow, it made me realize so much about music that made me both super happy and also quite depressed. We all know music is subjective as is life - to each his own, live and let live etc. so clearly the pumpkins aren't for everybody and that's totally cool. However, when I was a kid the mainstream bands to pick from were bands like Nirvana, Green Day, NIN, STP, Tool, Weezer, Pumpkins etc. and when i look at the options out there today... it's pretty bleak. Those bands stood for something, represented something and conducted their band as true artistic expressions in every way. I remember freaking out about artwork, lyrics, sounds, every single thing about every record I had. Today some kids seem to care more about the clothes, haircuts and the "scene" than they do about the music. I was so blown away by Billy Corgan - the set lists, the grandeur, the stage, every movement and word of his and the shows were absolutely phenominal. even when he wanked off on a 40 minute solo. it was fucking amazing and it reminded me of how incredibly talented he and they are. It reminded me of what it meant to be a fan of a band you would literally kill for. I haven't felt that way in a while which I guess isn't the worst thing in the world. Especially because we are lucky enough to have a band of 4 gentlemen (lol) that feel the same way about music and get to create our version of it. What's my point? i don't know for sure but I want to reiterate (even though we say it all the time) how much the people who support our band mean to us. We would kill for you guys... and we would die for our band. before you make fun of me - i just mean that every waking second is spent obsessing over our songs, artwork, live show, etc. and how we can make them all better - give more, create more. And at the end of the day, i'm so proud of Attics To Eden I can't even express it. As for you guys, i say demand more from your favorite bands. not more "face time" or "emails" persay.. but more from their music and their art. Do not let us (bands) settle for 2-3 good songs on a record. Don't let them co-write their songs. Don't let them use fashion and hair stylists to make them something they're not. Don't let them try to sell you the same record 3 times. For the love of whoever your God is don't let them put anything before their music!! because YOU deserve more than that.
As we prepare ATTICS, we've stopped at nothing to make every aspect of it mean something to us. For example, let me bore you with a story about the artwork for Attics. I was talking to an old friend of mine about artists and I brought up Dr. Suess' secret art collection. Its basically a rare collection of his "Ted Geisel" paintings and they're bad ass. Turns out she had an original and we started talking about her other favorites. She brought up a relatively new artist she was into and had just bought a 20,000 dollar painting of his (i know out of my league). When I saw it, it blew my mind. So on a whim I emailed this guy and told him all about Madina Lake and what we were trying to say and how the kids who support us are so amazing and passionate etc. To my shock, he emailed me back. Over the next few months as we were writing ATTICS I talked to him on the phone a ton and ended up sending him all the new songs, lyrics, titles, the first installment of the Adalia story and everything we'd written for the 2nd installment of the story. He in turn told me that he'd had a song in his head forever and couldn't quite record it as well as he wished so.. long story short (or long as it were lol) we negotiated an exchange. Madina Lake would record his song for him and he would paint the cover of Attics To Eden. Now this guy sells his paintings for 20K and he is painting our cover for free! He then sends us a loose recording of his song live from a keyboard along with the written lyrics and notes. Well the exchange has taken place and very soon we will be able to show you guys both. Our version of his song and his cover art for "Attics To Eden". In my humble opinion, it's the best artwork i've ever seen lol. We can't release his name yet either but we will soon and in a huge way because he is the best artist out there. And so massively cool for partnering up with us on Attics. Sorry for the long blog - we don't do enough of it so i guess that's why ha.. I hope you guys are at least half as excited as we are for this record ...

Yo,yo é o Nathan ...Como vão as coisas?Então depois dessa amada parada entre a gravação do Attics e a turnê nós tivemos bastante sorte para assistir 3 shows do Smashing pumpkings aqui em Chicago.Eu avisei que nós éramos fãs.De qualquer forma,isso me fez perceber tanto sobre a musica que me deixa super feliz e ao mesmo tempo muito depressivo.Todos nós sabemos que música é subejetivo assim como a vida-para cada um a sua própria viver de deixar viver etc.Tão claramente os pumpkins não são para todos e isso é muito legal.No entanto quando eu era um garoto as bandas do mainstream se inspiravam em bandas como Nirvana,Green day ,Nine Inch Nails,Stone temple pilots,tool,weezer ,pumpkins etc.e quando eu olho para as opções lá fora hoje ...é bastante desolador. Aquelas bandas era para alguma coisa, alguma coisa representada e conduziam sua banda como verdadeiras expressões artísticas em todos os sentidos.Eu me lembro loucamente sobre as artes,letras,sons qualquer coisa sobre qualquer disco eu tinha.Hoje algumas crianças parecem se preocupar mais com roupas,cortes de cabelo e a “cena” do que eles fazem com a música.Eu era tão influenciado pelo Billy Corgan- o setlist,a grandiosidade, o palco,cada movimento e palavra dele e os shows eram absolutamente fenomenais.Mesmo quando ele se masturbava durante 40 minutos num solo.Isso era demais e isso me lembrou o quão incrível é a habilidade dee e deles.Isso me faz lembrar o que significa ser fã de uma banda que você literalmente mataria por ela.Eu não tenho me sentido desse jeito há um tempo, a qual eu acho que não é a pior coisa do mundo.Especialmente porque nós temos sorte o bastante para ter uma banda de 4 cavaleiros (lol) que se sentem da mesma forma sobre a música e começar a criar a nossa versão disso.Qual é o meu ponto?Eu não sei ao certo eu quero reiterar(mesmo que nós digamos isso todo o tempo)o quanto significa as pessoas que apóiam nossa banda.Nós mataríamos por vocês rapazes... e morreríamos por nossa banda.Antes que vocês façam piada de mim-eu quero dizer que todo segundo acordado é gasto pela obsessão pela nossa música,artwork,shows ao vivo ,etc.E como nós podemos fazer todos eles melhores-dê mais,crie mais.E no fina do dia ,eu estou tão orgulhoso do “ATTICS TO EDEN”,eu mal posso expressar isso.Como para todos vocês, eu digo para vocês exigirem mais das suas bandas favoritas.Não mais “face time”e emails ...mas sim algo mais sobre música e sua arte.Não deixe que nós(bandas) marque 2 -3 canções boas num cd.Não deixe eles co-escreverem as canções.Não deixem que eles usem a moda e estilos de cabelo para fazer algo que eles não são.Não deixe que eles tentem vender o mesmo disco 3 vezes.Pelo amor de quem quer que seja seu Deus não deixem eles porem qualquer coisa antes da musica!!Porque VOCÊS merecem mais que isso.
Enquanto preparávamos o Attics,nós paramos no nada,para fazer cada aspecto disse significar algo para nós.Por exemplo,deixe eu chatear vocês com a história sobre o artwork do Attics.Eu estava falando com uma velha amiga minha sobre artistas e eu trouxe a tona a arte secreta de Dr.Suess. É basicamente uma rara coleção dele das pinturas “Ted Geisel” e eles são demais.Acontece que ela tem uma original e começamos a falar sobre as suas outras favoritas.Ela trouxe um relativo novo artista ela estava por dentro e tinha acabado de comprar uma pintura dele por 20,00 dólares(eu sei,fora do meu jogo).Quando eu vi isso,explodiu minha mente.Então por um capricho eu mandei um email para esse cara e contei a ele tudo sobre o Madina Lake e o que estávamos tentando dizer e como as crianças que apóiam a gente são tão incríveis e apaixonantes etc.Para meu choque,ele me mandou um email de volta.Nos próximos meses enquanto escrevíamos o Attics eu falei com ele ao telefone uma tonelada de vezes e enviei-lhe todas as novas músicas ,letras,’títulos,a primeira parcela da historia de Adalia e tudo que escrevemos para a segunda parte da história.Ele por sua vez disse que tinha uma música para sempre na sua cabeça e não poderia registra-la tão bem o quanto ele desejava ...então grande pequena história(ou longa como era o caso lol) nós negociamos uma troca.Madina Lake gravaria a música dele para ele e ele pintaria a cobertura para Attics to Éden.Agora esse cara vende suas pinturas por 20 k e está pintando nosso álbum de graça!Então ele nos enviou uma gravação perdida dele ao vivo com teclado junto com a letra e as notas.Bom a troca tenha tido um lugar e muito em breve nós estaremos disponíveis para mostrar os dois pra vocês.Nossa versão da música dele e a arte dele para “Attics To Éden”.Na minha modesta opinião ,é a melhor artwork que eu tenha visto lol.Nós não podemos divulgar seu nome também,ainda,mas nós iremos breve e de uma forma enorme porque ele é o melhor artista aí fora.E tão legal para ele ser nosso parceiro com o Attics.Desculpe pelo grande blog-não fazemos o bastante disso então eu achei porque...Eu espero que vocês estejam pelo menos metade excitados de como nós estamos para esse disco...
